Gujarati Fasting Recipe-sabudana Khichdi

Sabudana khichdi is also popular in Maharashtra. Sago khichdi is widely used as breakfast or snack and available as street food.

I often made sabudana khichdi fast of shravan or navratri. Sago, rock salt, potatoes, black pepper, turmeric are main ingredients of sago khichdi. Sago is rich of carbohydrate and litter protein, vitamins and minerals. So khichdi has a high energy content, so helpful during fasting.

Sabudana Khichdi is popular Gujarati fasting recipe. It made from socked Sabudana (Sago). Sabudana khichdi is also popular in Maharashtra. Sago khichdi is widely used as breakfast or snack and available as street food.

Ingredients
100 gm Sabudana (sago)
50 gm ground nuts (fried)
2 small Potatoes
2 tsp coriander leaves (chopped)

For seasoning
¼ tsp black pepper powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp Green-chili paste
Salt to taste
2-3 tbsp oil
5-6 curry leaves
2 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

Wash and drain sago. Every 30 minutes sprinkle water on it, repeat for 4-5 hour. Peel and cut potatoes into small pieces. You can boil or fry it. Heat oil in a pan. Now add curry leaves, turmeric powder and sago. Stir well for few minutes. Cook sago till it becomes transparent. Then add potatoes, ground nuts, green chili, salt, black pepper and lemon juice. Stir it well for 2 minutes. Sabudana khichadi is ready for serve. Garnish with coriander leaves.
