The commonly available ones in the market are white  onions , red  onions , and  spring onions . Though their flavor and preferred uses vary, there are numerous benefits provided by  onions  and I will only mention three of their nutritional content: They are a rich source of potassium (with about 200mg in one medium sized  onion ). Potassium is an essential mineral and electrolyte for normal cell function including the regulation of  heartbeat  and maintaining proper function of muscles.
