The visa on arrival scheme is being replaced by an online Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system.
This system expected to be implemented in phases from November 27, 2014 & will initially be made available to citizens of 45 counties

How will the ETA System Work?
Eligible foreign tourists will need to apply & pay for an electronic travel authorization on a dedicated website. They will receive an online confirmation within 3-5 working days. The ETA will be available for a 30 day period from the date of the tourist's arrival in India.
What are the requirements for Getting a Visa on Arrival?
You'll need to fill a form & produce:
* Passport with 6 month validity.
* 2 passport sized photographs
* Photocopy of passport
* Evidence of adequate funds such as a return ticket from India, hotel booking confirmation, & availability of sufficient money for the trip.
